Sumter Consulting offers executive search, interim, and embedded staffing services, as well as general consulting services to our local government clients. In business since 2021, we are staffed with experienced former local government executives. Our focus is on creating trust-based long-term relationships with our clients.
About The Role
Sumter Consulting is seeking to hire a senior-level local government consultant to cultivate new relationships and deliver consulting solutions to city and county governments. Our consultants play a key role in expanding our network, selling our services, and directly serving our clients with industry-leading search, staffing, and consulting services.
This is both a business development and consulting role: you’ll meet with local government executives, attend conferences, listen to their challenges, and offer practical solutions that help local governments succeed.
We are open to full-time and part-time engagements.
What You’ll Do
Leverage your network to nurture trusted relationships to build your client base
Conduct strategic outreach and make introductions to city and county leaders
Represent Sumter Consulting at client meetings, site visits, and conferences
Support executive searches, general consulting, and interim staffing engagements
What We’re Looking For
Strong existing network in local government
Proven success or a genuine interest and enthusiasm for consultative sales
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Knowledge of local government operations and decision-making processes
Experienced and retired local government professionals looking for new challenges
